A refocus on new and growth-oriented firms—most of the specialist research in this field concentrates on micro enterprises and low-growth lifestyle businesses, yet these firms do not contribute in a meaningful way to the sustainable economic growth needed to reduce poverty in developing countries like India. Recent research strongly suggests that new and growth-oriented firms are more likely to contribute to economic growth and provide important new sources of higher quality employment. More research should be conducted on the unique attributes of new and growth-oriented firms.
